Video: The Suame Riot by Ghanaians on Nigerians was a reaction to a kidnapped Daughter of One Trader – Shop Owner

Yesterday, a group of irate Ghanaians staged a riot in Suame Mezagine, a market in Kumasi.

According to several media reportage, the protest was against Nigerian traders at the famous ‘ Vehicle Spare part’ market.

A Ghanaian shop owner has rubbished the earlier reason given by the media, saying the riot had nothing to do with trade war between Ghanaians and their Nigerian counterparts in the market.

Speaking to One Love Ghana TV, Mr. Collins said the riot was a reaction to a kidnapping case involving a daughter of one of their colleagues.

Apparently, a daughter of a Ghanaian shop owner called Brobbey was kidnapped by a gang believed to be Nigerians.

The girl after a week in the hands of the kidnappers managed to escape when her fellow victims, teamed up to escape via the roof of the room they were housed.

After the girl returned and narrated the story, the Ghana half of the market got aroused and started chanting war songs.

The irate nature of the aggrieved Ghanaians got the Nigerian shop owners to lock their shops.
