Vice President Dr. Bawumia Donates GH¢100,000 to Support Yaw Sarpong’s Recovery

On June 11, 2024, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate for Ghana’s general elections, gave famed gospel artist Yaw Sarpong a huge helping hand.

A few months ago, Yaw Sarpong’s manager, Nana Poku Ashis, stated in an interview that the singer is having a stroke. At that time, reports regarding the singer’s condition became viral.

At the time, Ashis pleaded for financial assistance for the well-known artist and requested that everyone offer prayers for him, especially those who had received some sort of blessing from his music.

It seems that Chairman Wontumi, also known as Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, has finally taken notice of these calls.

Speaking after leading the Vice President and an NPP group to Yaw Sarpong’s home, Chairman Wontumi revealed that the purpose of the visit was to assist and encourage the ailing musician.

Chairman Wontumi stated, “I told Dr. Bawumia about your condition, and he decided to visit you and evaluate your situation before leaving the Ashanti Region.”

Yaw Sarpong was also spoken to briefly by the Vice President, who reassured him that everything would be alright.

Upon concluding, EDHUB disclosed on their X account that Dr. Bawumia contributed GH¢100,000 to help cover Yaw Sarpong’s medical costs.

“Today, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP, paid a visit to Yaw Sarpong, a well-known gospel singer, who is now receiving medical attention from Bishop J.Y. Adu because of health issues. The tweet said, “Dr. Bawumia donated GH¢100,000 for his medical treatment.”
