Ohenaba Nana Asiedu, a host on Wontumi’s TV station in Kumasi, has supported the poisoning theory and provided more details. Oheneba Asiedu, Chairman Wontumi’s aide, made a special appearance on Wontumi TV’s sports show and hinted that the poison, which was given through roasted guinea fowl, was intended for his boss.
Oheneba claims that he was accompanying Wontumi and John Kumah on the Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia campaign route when suspected poisoning happened. He described how it happened on October 22, 2023, in the Tamale motel where Wontumi and Kumah were staying. An unknown individual had brought guinea fowl with them. After campaigning, the two had just returned.
The two were ill after consuming the roasted meat and puked all over their rooms. While Kumah was largely unaffected until the next evening, October 23, when his condition worsened and he needed to take medication, Wontumi’s condition was so serious that he had to be treated by Dr. Bawumia’s medical team, who diagnosed him with food poisoning.

Oheneba went on to say that everything that took place at the Mariam Hotel in Tamale was prearranged and related to the NPP’s competition for the position of running mate. “John Kumah’s demise was not natural. He stated, “That is my belief, and I have no proof to support it. No one can persuade me that it has nothing to do with Dr. Bawumia’s running mate position.
