Rawlings & Other Delegates Sent By Akufo Addo to Represent Ghana at Mugabe’s Funeral arrives at Harare, Zimbabwe

 Former president of the Republic of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings is leading a delegation sent by President Akufo-Addo to represent Ghana at Robert Mugabe’s funeral in Zimbabwe.

President Nana Addo has dispatched a delegation to represent Ghana at the funeral of former Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe.

A statement from the Presidency said the delegation is being led by former president Jerry John Rawlings.

“President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has dispatched a Government delegation to represent Ghana at the funeral, in Harare, Zimbabwe, on Saturday, 14th September, 2019, of the late Robert Mugabe, first President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, whose first wife was a Ghanaian, the late, well-known nationalist, Sally Mugabe, neè Hayfron.”

“The delegation is led by the 1st President of the 4th Republic, His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings, and includes the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Charles Owiredu; a nephew of the late Sally Mugabe, Mr. Queesy Ninsin-Imbeah; and officials of the Foreign Ministry,” the statement added.

Mugabe died last Friday, September 6, 2019, in Singapore at the age of 95 and is scheduled to be buried on Sunday, September 15. Before his burial, a funeral is to be held in honour of Mugabe.The funeral is expected to be attended by African leaders.

Meanwhile, images of the casket said to have been specially made for Mugabe’s burial have popped up online. The computerised casket has literally caused a frenzy online.
