President Akufo-Addo backs Akwesi Appiah after meeting

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has backed Akwesi Appiah on his decision to take the Blackstars captaincy from Asamoah Gyan.

This was made known to the coach following his meeting with the President of the Ghana on Tuesday afternoon.

The coach, Akwesi Appiah and members of the Normalization committee met the President today at the Jubilee House following Gyan’s bitter retirement from the Blackstars over the captaincy saga.

The outcome of the meeting was shared by senior journalist, Jerome Otchere who had a chat with coach Akwesi Appiah.

Jerome Otchere shared what Akwesi Appiah told him on his Twitter page;

I have spoken with Coach Kwasi Appiah moments ago. He is still at post. He has neither resigned nor has he been asked to resign. He justified his decision. The President backs him. If Gyan won’t play for the Black Stars because he won’t be the captain, it’s all right! That’s his decision”.
