Thanks to its catchy, infectious tune and pre-release marketing, the song received over a million plays on Audiomack in less than a week. With the song, he’s reached a new height and received a lot of positive feedback online.

Boomplay’s new music chart shows that King Paluta’s “Makoma” is the most streamed song, according to data gathered between July 5 and July 11.

It defeated Ogechi Remix, the imposing remix whose popularity was fueled by Black Sherif’s Kilos Milos and Davido’s wedding.

Other King Paluta releases on Boomplay have benefited from Makoma’s success. Now ranking at number 14 on Boomplay‘s list of the hottest tracks, his duet with Sista Afia has risen two spots.

Currently topping Audiomack’s list of popular African songs, the song was the most-streamed song on Apple Music during the first week of July.

“We have the Number 1 song in Africa on Boomplay and Audiomack,” King Paluta declared as he celebrated reaching his milestone. I am incredibly grateful to you all for this! Very, very appreciative.”
