Eligibility of NDC Assin North MP elect challenged in court for allegedly not renouncing his Canadian citizen

The eligibility of the MP elect for the Assin North constituency James Quayson has been challenged.

Marfo & Associates have sued the accused James Quayson in court for not being eligible to be a member of parliament in Ghana.

According to the law suit, James Quayson is a Canadian and did not renounce his Canadian citizenship when he stood for election to be voted into the parliament of Ghana.

The constitution of Ghana requires all public office holders to have a full Ghanaian citizenship status.

In must be remembered that in the year 2012 the member of parliament of Bawku Central Adamu Dramina Sakande was jailed for 2 years when he was found guilty of becoming a Ghanaian member of parliament when he hadn’t renounced his UK citizenship.

A certain cattle dealer was the one who sued the then Bawku Central MP Adamu Dramani Sakande.
