Dumsor: ECG Ordered To Provide Load Management Timetable
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has been ordered by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) to submit a load management schedule by April 2, 2024. PURC requested in a statement that ECG give the commission a thorough load management schedule by April 2, 2024.
Along with other information, PURC is requesting the ratings, current loadings, and GPS positions of all overloaded distribution transformers.
Timelines for the installation of new transformers are also anticipated by the commission. The PURC also lists the transformers’ GPS position as a prerequisite. ECG has maintained that a load-shedding schedule is not now necessary, despite repeated power outages.
It said that 630 overloaded transformers during peak hours were to blame for the power outages. But according to the firm, power outages usually happen between 7 and 11 p.m. Several minority party members of parliament have voiced their concerns about the state of affairs and demanded a schedule for load shedding.

The recent power interruptions, according to John Jinapor, ranking member of the Mines and Energy Committee, were caused by a shortage of fuel for the Takoradi thermal plants, which have subsequently shut down. These worries led Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the deputy minority leader, to propose a load-shedding schedule in January.
