Connor Sturgeon Parents: His Family Background

A mass shooting incident in Louisville, Kentucky on April 10, 2023, shocked the nation after it claimed the lives of five innocent people and injured several others.

The shooter, identified as 25-year-old Connor Sturgeon, opened fire inside the Old National Bank downtown before being killed in an exchange of gunfire with police.

In a new development, it has been revealed that Sturgeon’s family called the police for help less than 15 minutes after the shooting began.

According to police radio recordings, two of Sturgeon’s family members, his mother Lisa Sturgeon, and his younger brother Cameron, approached the police at the intersection of Witherspoon Street and Preston Street, about a block from the bank. However, it is unclear what the family’s intentions were or what they said to the officers.

Connor Sturgeon’s Parents and Family Background

Sturgeon’s family reportedly lived in Greenville, Indiana, while he resided in Louisville on Taylor Avenue. He graduated from Floyd Central High School, where he won the 2016 NTSPY award for Boys Track Athlete of the Year.

Sturgeon was also a National Merit Scholar. His father, Todd Sturgeon, is a former boys basketball coach at the University of Indianapolis and currently teaches US history at Floyd Central High School in Indiana. Not much is known about Sturgeon’s other family members at this time.

It was reported that Sturgeon left a note to his parents suggesting he was going to attack the bank. However, it is unclear if the family members who approached the police were aware of Sturgeon’s plan beforehand.

The victims of the shooting have been identified as Thomas Elliot, 63, James Tutt, 64, Joshua Barrick, 40, Julianna Farmer, 45, and Deana Eckert, 57. At least eight other people were wounded during the attack.

This incident is the 146th mass shooting in America in 2023, which is more than the number of days in the year. It occurred just days after a school shooting in Nashville, which is just a three-hour drive from Louisville.

After the shooting, President Joe Biden blamed Republicans for the failure to crack down on gun violence in the country.

He urged Congress to pass laws to require safe storage of firearms, background checks for all gun sales, and to eliminate gun manufacturers’ immunity from liability. However, these proposals have faced opposition from the Republican party.

The actions of Sturgeon’s family members during the shooting are unclear, and it is uncertain if their involvement could have prevented the tragedy. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of gun violence in the US and the need for stronger gun control measures to protect communities from such incidents.
