Amerado’s ‘Kwaku Ananse’ makes unexpected appearance in BECE exam

The popular song “Kwaku Ananse” by Ghanaian artist Amerado is included in the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The words to the 2024 hit song “Kwaku Ananse” were included in question number 26 of the exam papers for Creative Arts and Design.

This confirmed the song’s widespread appeal as well as the significance of the lyrics for learners and the educational system.

The absence of “Kwaku Ananse” from the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) nomination list infuriated a lot of people, but the organizers later added it back as the most popular song category.

In the meantime, more than 500,000 pupils were anticipated to sit in classrooms and exam rooms starting on July 8 and finishing on July 15 for the BECE. The exam results will be used to determine a student’s eligibility for second-cycle (secondary and technical) institutions after they have finished.

The primary external examination (70%) and ongoing assessments (30%) form the basis of the criterion.

English language, math, science, social studies, French, Ghanaian language, visual art, home economics, pre-technical skills, information, communication, and technology are among the other courses taught.
