Former South African footballer Mark Batchelor has been shot dead in Johannesburg.

Mark Batchelor was attacked when he was in his car outside his residence with the assassins firing 16 shots at him.

The motive recent the assassination of the former Bafana Bafana player remains unclear.

According reports emanating from the rainbow nation, Mark Batchelor has some ties with a self confessed hitman Mikey Schultz.

Mark Batchelor during his playing days featured for both the two giants in the South African league, Orlando Pirates and Kaiser Chief as well as the senior national team, Bafana Bafana.
