5 Iconic Moments Captured When Akufo-Addo & Samira joined Chief Imam for Eid Fitr

The Muslim community in Ghana ended their annual 30 days fast yesterday and had their traditional gathering today at various places in the country.

The biggest of the Eid celebration took place at the Independence Square today and was chaired by the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu.

In attendance was the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and the wife of the President President, Samira Bawumia, herself a Muslim.

The President straight from the Eid Fitr ceremony took to his official Facebook page to share his experience at the event.

He wrote;

On Wednesday, 5th June, 2019, I joined the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, Zongo Chiefs and Muslims, celebrate Eid ul-Fitr at the Independence Square, in Accra.

I urged Muslims to uphold the virtues of Ramadan, and make them a part of their lives. If there are any Muslim citizens who are in a hurry to remove the garb of Ramadan, and resume the “business as usual” attitude, I urge them to reflect on the word, as contained in the Quran, and I quote, “Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may attain righteousness.”
