5 Ghanaians arrested in Dubai with weed in parcels travel agents gave to them

5 Ghanaians have been arrested in the United Arab Emirates for marijuana related offenses.

All 5 were arrested by Dubai authorities for possession of parcels with marijuana hidden in them between January and March 2021.

The Ghana consulate in Dubai has released a statement to warn travelers, potential travelers and their families to warn them against accepting to deliver parcels.

According to the Ghana Consulate, all 5 arrested so far said the parcel was given to them by their travel agents to deliver on arrival.

They have no knowledge about what’s in the parcel.

In the press statement issued by the Ghana Consulate they sounded emotional whiles warning Ghanaian travelers not to catty any parcel for anyone because it’s likely there is weed or banned substances hidden in them.

One of the 5 arrested has been sentenced to 10 years in prison with the other 4 still in police custody pending trial and sentences.
